Trashy Art

New York City can be a filthy place, but to artist Justin Gignac, trash is art. The 26-year-old spends his nights scouring the city’s streets for the perfect trash, then carefully arranges his finds in clear plastic cubes that he signs, numbers and dates. “I sell garbage,” as the kid says on his website:

I scour New York City streets picking up trash. After filling bags with subway passes, tickets and other NYC junk, I carefully arrange plastic cubes full of the stuff. Each box is unique and won’t leak or smell.

We’ve all come across endless amounts of trash on the Internet, but this takes it. The order page lets you send off for one of Gignac’s rubbish masterpieces from home, for only $50 a pop.
